About Prometheus Orchestra
Our aims
We aim to be an Orchestra for the community, playing orchestral concerts every season and, continuing to join with the notable choirs of East Anglia accompanying the wonderful choral repertoire of the last 400 years. It’s our mission to produce quality concerts at affordable prices in the concert-halls and great churches of the eastern counties.
We look to expand our outreach projects; the education of children in music and broadcasting to disabled and housebound audiences. We are a not-for-profit organisation and despite classical music projects and concerts being expensive to mount, we believe they are essential to enrich the cultural lives of citizens. We hope that you will agree & that you’ll support us.
A Tribute to Edmond Fivet CBE
Our co-founder, conductor, musical director and benefactor Edmond Fivet passed away in November 2021. Without Edmond, Prometheus Orchestra would very likely not exist.
Our Beethoven Project was conceived and brought to fruition by Edmond Fivet. The concluding performance of the series, Beethoven’s magnificent Emperor Concerto, was dedicated to Edmond. We all at Prometheus Orchestra are extremely grateful for Edmond’s time with us.
Edmond was Principal of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for eighteen years. Here is their tribute to him and his work: Click here to read the tribute to Edmond Fivet
